Understand how to structure your dissertation and why each part of it exists. Learn what to include in each chapter and how to organise it. Master tone, cohesion, and argument flow, and learn how to apply everything in practice.
We begin with an introduction to what a dissertation is as a whole and how its structure reflects the logic of academic reasoning. The place of every chapter in the dissertation is explained, as well as what additional elements round up the dissertation.
We explore each chapter, discussing what elements to include and how to organize them. Starting with the introduction, on to the theoretical chapter, the methodology chapter, the empirical chapter, and finishing with the conclusion. We also look into the specifics of academic writing for each chapter.
We dedicate a video entirely to academic writing to help you master tone, cohesion, and argument flow. Different features of academic writing, such as citation and visualisation, are presented with examples. Academic writing is regarded as an iterative process, and strategies are recommended for common writing problems.
We look at a real-life use case of one of our students and how he structured and wrote his dissertation. We delve into each dissertation chapter and the structural and writing decisions he has taken.
